Roland Cahen is an electro-acoustic composer and sound designer; he also directs and performs electro-acoustic music pieces, which sometimes come in the shape of musical plays or interactive situations.
He studied with Pierre Schaeffer and Guy Reibel at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique (National music academy) in Paris, 1977-1980. After also studying drama, he dedicated himself to composing, sound designing and teaching. He teaches at the ENSCI (National institute for industrial creation). Since the 1980s, he’s been very much involved in the fields of digital tools and interactive music. For example, he carried out artistic, educational and research projects at the IRCAM (Centre for musical research) within the GRM (the National audiovisual institute’s (INA) musical research group) and at the IMEB (Experimental music institute in Bourges).
