Indira Cruz was born in 1975 in Bogota, Colombia. She lived there until she was 21, studying at Beaux Arts for two years. She came to Paris in 1996, where she has worked and lived ever since. She took up studying visual arts again at the Paris 1 Sorbonne University, completing a research degree. Initially working with photos, she moved towards video and has been working as a visual artist since 1999. She also organises exhibitions focusing on images in general and video in particular.
